Michael Porsgaard European Civil Protection and Training
Michael is currently working as Chief of Staff at DEMA South Jutland.
He holds a master degree in Public Management (specializing in Strategic Management and evaluating processes) as well as an officer's degree from DEMA (Danish Emergency Management Agency).
He has over 35 years experience in civil protection, humanitarian and development contexts with in-depth experience in both natural disasters and complex emergencies. As an experienced disaster response practitioner, Michael has developed proven skills in assessment, operations, intervention strategies as well as evaluation of crisis response and disaster risk reduction approaches. He has worked with UNHCR and with The European Civil protection Mechanism on a number of assignments, including being seconded to the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) in Brussels during major incidents.
Michael also works as Independent Consultant and Trainer on courses in The European Community Civil Protection Mechanism Training Programme. Recently he has also become an UNDAC-member.
