Martin completed 30 years service in policing finishing as an Assistant Chief Constable In West Mercia Police. His career has been wide and varied in both uniform and detective roles across all ranks involving policing across a large geographical region whilst commanding numerous high risk, complex and challenging operations both spontaneous (critical / major incident) and pre-planned (civil order events etc).
At a national level, Martin was the National Police lead for Collision Investigation through which he led a programme of work to transform forensic collision investigation service into a national network approach creating new national policy standards and generating substantial cost savings.
Martin is recognised widely for his work on Road Safety and has previously been a representative on the European Roads Policing (TISPOL) working group. Through this role he conceived and implemented "Operation Trivium", targeting vehicles used by foreign national offenders to successfully embed operation across Europe.
