Cristiano brings over twenty-eight years of professional experience, of which 6 years in the private sector and 22 years in various contexts and countries, ranging from humanitarian operations to development programmes. Cristiano has coordinated complex operations and rolled out diverse interventions at country and regional level in Africa, Asia and Europe.

His experience includes collaboration with various stakeholders providing strategic direction for country projects and regional programmes. His expertise includes disaster management, disaster risk reduction and management, strategy formulation, project design, programme development and management, emergency preparedness and response, contingency planning, climate change and environmental protection, context and socio-economic analysis as well as institutional capacity building. Cristiano has also gained skills in representation, resource mobilization and coordination of international organizations & stakeholders covering the spectrum relief, recovery, rehabilitation and development. He has worked with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Swiss Government's Humanitarian Aid Unit, the European Commission, United Nations Agencies (FAO and WFP), and NGOs as well as with two different Financial Intuitions in Switzerland. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management, and Master's degree in International Relations.

Most recently Cristiano carried out a standby partner assignment from Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), as Senior Resilience and Disaster Risk Management Advisor based in Islamabad, Pakistan. This entailed the management of the Resilience Programme at WFP as well as technical and strategic support to the National Disaster Management Authority and Ministry of Climate Change.
